DAY 2 – Monday 8th February 2027 NEGOMBO — COASTAL TOWN TOUR & WELCOME DINNER (B/D)

Your Sri Lankan adventure officially begins! Meet your fellow solo travellers and your Two’s a Crowd Host and local guide over breakfast before setting out to discover the layers of Negombo’s fascinating character.

A guided tour (approximately 3–4 hours) takes in the bustling Fish Market — one of the largest and most atmospheric in Sri Lanka — the ornate St. Mary’s Church, and the crumbling ruins of the Dutch Fort, each offering a different window into this town’s remarkable history as a former hub of the cinnamon trade. Nicknamed “Little Rome” for its extraordinary density of churches and Catholic shrines, Negombo is a genuinely intriguing place to begin a journey.

The afternoon is yours at leisure — relax on the beach, take a dip in the Indian Ocean, or simply watch the colourful outrigger fishing boats return with their catch.

This evening, gather for a Welcome Dinner at the hotel — the first meal of many shared with your new travel companions.

DAY 3 – Tuesday 9th February 2027 NEGOMBO TO ANURADHAPURA TO HABARANA (B/D)

After an early breakfast, journey north into Sri Lanka’s ancient heartland — to Anuradhapura, the island’s first great capital and one of the most sacred cities in the Buddhist world.

Dating back to the 4th century BC, Anuradhapura served as Sri Lanka’s capital for over a thousand years, and the scale of what was built here is genuinely staggering. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to some of the most important religious monuments in Asia, set within a vast, peaceful, tree-shaded landscape that somehow manages to feel both ancient and alive.

Highlights of your exploration include the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi Tree — grown from a cutting of the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, and reputedly the oldest living tree with a documented history anywhere on earth — and the immense ancient stupas of Ruwanweliseya, Jetavanaramaya, and Thuparama, each a towering symbol of extraordinary devotion and ancient engineering.

Please note: shoes and hats must be removed when visiting sacred sites.

Continue to Habarana, your base for the next three nights, located in the heart of Sri Lanka’s legendary Cultural Triangle.

DAY 4 – Wednesday 10th February 2027 HABARANA — POLONNARUWA & MINNERIYA ELEPHANT SAFARI (B/D)

A day that moves seamlessly from ancient civilisation to raw wildlife — and one of the tour’s most exhilarating.

Begin in Polonnaruwa — Sri Lanka’s magnificent medieval capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that transports you to the island’s 12th-century golden age. Wander through sun-drenched ruins of grand palaces, sacred temples, and royal audience halls before arriving at the undisputed highlight: Gal Vihara — four colossal Buddha statues carved with breathtaking precision into a single granite rock face. One of Sri Lanka’s supreme artistic achievements, and a genuinely moving sight.

This afternoon, the experience shifts from ancient stone to living wilderness as we head into Minneriya National Park for an exhilarating open-top jeep safari. Minneriya is famous for its seasonal elephant gatherings — and February brings exceptional viewing opportunities, as large herds of wild Asian elephants converge around the ancient reservoir. Keep watch too for spotted deer, sloth bears, and abundant birdlife as the sun dips over the water.

DAY 5 – Thursday 11th February 2027 HABARANA — SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS & HIRIWADUNNA VILLAGE (B/L/D)

Quite possibly the most extraordinary day of the entire journey — and that’s saying something on a tour of this quality.

Begin at Sigiriya Rock Fortress — the defining icon of Sri Lanka and one of the most remarkable archaeological sites in all of Asia. Often called the “Eighth Wonder of the Ancient World”, this 5th-century royal citadel was built atop a sheer volcanic rock rising 200 metres from the surrounding jungle. The ascent winds past beautifully landscaped ancient water gardens, remarkable frescoes of celestial maidens painted directly onto the rock face, and the famous Mirror Wall — once polished to such a shine that the king could see his reflection — before arriving at the dramatic Lion’s Paw entrance. At the summit, the ruins of King Kashyapa’s palace offer sweeping panoramic views across an impossibly beautiful jungle landscape. Breathtaking in every sense.

Please note: the climb involves approximately 1,200 steps and requires a moderate level of fitness. You are welcome to opt out if you prefer.

This afternoon, the experience shifts completely — from ancient royal grandeur to authentic rural life. A visit to Hiriwadunna Village is one of the tour’s most unique and memorable experiences. Travel by traditional bullock cart through quiet country tracks, take a guided walk through farmland and scrub jungle, and glide across a serene village lake by canoe. Connect with local villagers and share a freshly prepared traditional meal cooked over a wood-fired hearth using locally sourced ingredients. A rare and genuine glimpse into the rhythms of Sri Lanka’s rural dry zone — and an experience that mainstream tours simply don’t offer.

DAY 6 – Friday 12th February 2027 HABARANA — DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLE — MATALE SPICE GARDEN — KANDY (B/D)

A day of discovery that winds from ancient religious art through fragrant spice gardens to the spiritual heart of Sri Lanka.

Begin at the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple — another of Sri Lanka’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites and one of the most impressive religious landmarks in Asia. Five vast caves carved into a single massive rock house an extraordinary collection of Buddha statues and intricate murals — 2,000 years of devotion depicted across walls and ceilings in extraordinary, well-preserved detail. The largest and finest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, and a place of genuine power and beauty.

Please note: the approach involves approximately 360 steps on wide, even stone stairways.

Continue to a spice garden in Matale, where Sri Lanka’s legendary spice heritage comes alive among growing plants of cinnamon, cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, and cloves — a fragrant and fascinating stop that explains why this island was so fiercely coveted by European powers for centuries.

Arrive in Kandy — the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, the last royal stronghold of the ancient Sinhalese kingdom, and one of the most beautiful cities in Asia. Set around a shimmering lake and ringed by lush green hills, Kandy is the living heart of Sri Lankan culture, spirituality, and tradition.

Your own room at Kandy Myst Cinnamon or similar

DAY 7 – Saturday 13th February 2027 KANDY — PERADENIYA BOTANICAL GARDENS & TEMPLE OF THE TOOTH (B/D)

A deeply cultural and beautiful day in one of Sri Lanka’s most captivating cities.

Begin with a leisurely morning at the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya — one of the finest botanical gardens in all of Asia, spread across sweeping grounds along the Mahaweli River. Wander through stunning collections of tropical orchids, towering royal palm avenues, ancient spice trees, and medicinal plants in a setting of serene natural beauty. Originally a royal pleasure garden, Peradeniya today is a genuinely peaceful and magnificent place.

Return to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa) — the most sacred Buddhist shrine in Sri Lanka and one of the holiest sites in the entire Buddhist world. The temple houses a revered relic of the Buddha and remains an active, living place of worship. Witness the atmospheric evening puja rituals, accompanied by the resonant sound of traditional drumming and ceremonial offerings — a profoundly moving experience.

Modest attire is required: shoulders and knees must be covered.

The evening brings a vibrant traditional cultural performance showcasing Sri Lanka’s extraordinary dance and music heritage — the perfect close to a richly cultural day.

DAY 8 – Sunday 14th February 2027 KANDY TO NUWARA ELIYA — TEA COUNTRY & PLANTATION VISIT (B/D)

A day of ascending beauty as the road winds upward from Kandy into Sri Lanka’s breathtaking central highlands — and the landscape transforms before your eyes into an endless rolling patchwork of emerald tea plantations, mist-shrouded valleys, and cascading waterfalls.

Welcome to Nuwara Eliya — affectionately known as “Little England” for its cool climate, colonial bungalows, manicured gardens, and distinctly un-tropical atmosphere. At around 1,900 metres above sea level, the air here is refreshingly crisp — a welcome contrast to the warmth of the coast and plains below.

This is the heart of Sri Lanka’s legendary tea country, producing some of the world’s finest Ceylon tea. In the afternoon, visit a working tea plantation and factory and discover the remarkable journey from leaf to cup — watching the process of withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying the freshly picked leaves. You may even have the chance to try your hand at picking tea yourself, before settling in for a freshly brewed cup surrounded by sweeping plantation views.

Your own room at Araliya Green Hills Hotel, Nuwara Eliya or similar

DAY 9 – Monday 15th February 2027 NUWARA ELIYA — WORLD’S MOST SCENIC TRAIN RIDE — ELLA — YALA (B/D)

The day many travellers consider the most magical of the entire journey — beginning with one of the world’s most celebrated rail experiences and ending at the edge of the wilderness.

Transfer to Ambewela railway station and board the legendary highland train to Ella — widely celebrated as one of the most breathtaking train journeys on earth. For approximately 2.5 hours, the train winds through Sri Lanka’s emerald hill country in glorious slow motion: endless tea plantations, mist-veiled mountain peaks, plunging valleys, and cascading waterfalls passing the windows in a cinematic parade of natural beauty. Sit back, breathe it in, and let it wash over you.

Arrive in Ella — a charming hill village of extraordinary scenic drama — and explore two of the island’s most iconic sights: the magnificent Nine Arch Bridge, a soaring colonial-era railway viaduct rising from the jungle amid dense tea plantations, and the dramatic Ravana Falls, tumbling from a rocky outcrop and steeped in the legends of the ancient Ramayana epic.

Continue by road to Yala on the southeastern coast, arriving in time to check in and relax before a local dinner.

Your own room at Kithala Resort & Spa, Tissamaharama or similar

DAY 10 – Tuesday 16th February 2027 YALA NATIONAL PARK LEOPARD SAFARI — GALLE (B)

An early start for what many consider the wildlife highlight of the entire tour — and one of the great wildlife experiences in Asia.

Depart pre-dawn with packed breakfasts for Yala National Park — Sri Lanka’s largest and most famous wildlife reserve, and one of the best places anywhere in the world to spot the elusive leopard in the wild. Yala has one of the highest densities of leopards of any national park on earth, and an early morning jeep safari here offers genuinely thrilling sighting possibilities. The park is also home to elephants, sloth bears, saltwater crocodiles, spotted deer, wild boar, and over 140 recorded bird species — making this a wildlife experience of extraordinary richness.

After the safari, continue along Sri Lanka’s stunning southern coastline toward Galle — stopping en route for a photo opportunity at the extraordinary sight of traditional stilt fishermen balanced on wooden poles set in the shallow coastal waters. A practice unique to Sri Lanka, and one of its most iconic and photogenic cultural images.

Arrive in Galle and check in to your stunning beachfront hotel near the famous fort. This evening and tomorrow evening are yours at leisure — the perfect opportunity to explore the fort’s wonderful cafés and restaurants at your own pace.

Your own room at Radisson Blu Resort Galle or similar

DAY 11 – Wednesday 17th February 2027 GALLE FORT — FREE DAY (B)

A beautifully relaxed day in one of the Indian Ocean’s most atmospheric and beguiling towns.

Begin with a guided exploration of the iconic Galle Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of extraordinary historical richness. Originally constructed by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later extensively rebuilt by the Dutch in 1663, the fort is a perfectly preserved fortified city where cobblestoned streets wind between centuries-old colonial buildings, whitewashed churches, boutique hotels, artisan shops, and the best cafés on the south coast — all encircled by massive stone ocean ramparts that have stood for over 350 years.

For cricket enthusiasts: the world-famous Galle International Cricket Stadium sits right beside the fort, and if a match is on during your visit, you can watch from the ramparts for free — one of sport’s great viewing experiences.

The remainder of the day is entirely at your leisure. Wander, read, swim, explore — Galle rewards those who simply slow down and soak it in.

Your own room at Radisson Blu Resort Galle or similar

DAY 12 – Thursday 18th February 2027 GALLE TO COLOMBO (B/D)

After a final relaxed Galle breakfast, drive along the coast to Colombo — Sri Lanka’s dynamic, multicultural commercial capital and a city of fascinating contrasts, where gleaming modern skyscrapers rise alongside colonial-era buildings, ancient Buddhist temples, Hindu shrines, mosques, and vibrant street markets.

Colombo’s position as one of the Indian Ocean’s great historic trading ports has given it a genuinely layered character — centuries of Arab, Portuguese, Dutch, and British influence all woven into the fabric of a very modern, very alive Sri Lankan city.

Check in to your elegant lakeside hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Your own room at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo or similar

DAY 13 – Friday 19th February 2027 COLOMBO — TUK-TUK CITY TOUR & FAREWELL DINNER (B/D)

The perfect way to experience Colombo — aboard a traditional tuk-tuk, weaving through the city’s extraordinary variety of neighbourhoods, landmarks, and cultural sites with a local guide who knows every hidden corner.

Your tuk-tuk tour takes in the striking BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), the beautifully ornate Red Mosque (Jami Ul-Alfar Mosque) in the heart of Pettah, the serene and atmospheric Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, and the overwhelming colour and chaos of Pettah Bazaar — Colombo’s legendary street market, where everything from fresh spices to mobile phone cases spills across the narrow lanes.

Continue to the breezy Galle Face Green — Colombo’s beloved seafront promenade — and a peaceful stop at the city’s largest green space, Viharamahadevi Park, before passing the historic Old Parliament Building and concluding at the elegant Independence Square — a proud symbol of Sri Lanka’s independence from British rule in 1948.

This evening, come together for your Farewell Dinner — a celebration of 14 extraordinary days, new friendships forged across ancient ruins and wildlife safaris and highland train journeys, and the incomparable beauty of an island that never stops giving.

DAY 1 – Sunday 7th February 2027 COLOMBO — ARRIVAL & TRANSFER TO NEGOMBO

Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, your Two’s a Crowd representative will be waiting to greet you and transfer you north to your beachfront hotel in Negombo — a relaxed and charming coastal town just one hour from the airport, and the perfect gentle introduction to the island.

No activities are planned today to accommodate varying flight arrival times. Settle in, feel the warm sea breeze, and let Sri Lanka begin to work its magic.

Special Note: A complimentary group transfer on 7th February is provided for all guests arriving on late-night Singapore Airlines and Sri Lankan Airlines flights. If you wish to arrive earlier, additional nights can be arranged at the hotel — just contact the team.

Your own room at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo or similar

DAY 14 – Saturday 20th February 2027 COLOMBO — DEPARTURE DAY (B)

After a final breakfast together, say your farewells and transfer to Colombo Airport for your flight home — carrying with you the memories of sacred stupas at sunrise, a leopard in the long grass at Yala, the world’s most beautiful train journey, wild elephants at Minneriya, and the warm, generous spirit of Sri Lanka and its people.

This is not goodbye. This is until next time.
