Weather

The weather in Italy varies from place to place, so it depends where you’re looking to visit. The season’s are the same as the rest of Europe – so if you’re looking for nice weather, aim for spring and autumn. In the summer, Northern Italy is warm and likely to rain, however if you head to Rome, or the south and central regions, you’ll find it can get uncomfortably hot – with temps climbing up to 35°C (although, you might like that). This is also when the majority of tourists flock to the country.

Money

In Italy, as in most of Western Europe, the official currency is the Euro (€). The Euro is divided into 100 cents (centimes, centesimi), with two decimals after the comma (not decimal point, comma). So, a price will often be displayed as €10,00 (ten euros); or €2,14 (two euro and 14 cents), etc.

Electricity

Electricity in Italy, as in the rest of Europe, comes out of the wall socket at 220 volts alternating at 50 cycles per second.

Visas

Australian citizens don’t need a visa for Italy if they’re only planning on being there for less than 90 days. You need to make sure that you have at least 6 months validity on your visa after your date of return/departure from the country.

Language

The official language spoken in Italy is Italian. Some regions in Italy also speak French, German and Slovene.

What Our Clients Say

George
The location in Venice was fantastic, you could not have chosen better.
Chris
My Italian Interlude was a wonderful experience. Much better than expected. There were just so many "OMG" highlights. Loved not having to unpack and pack every day. Beautiful locations especially Terre di Baccio. I enjoyed meeting the families of our local hosts and guides. Added to the Italian experience. Everyone was always so helpful and friendly. The itinerary was full of amazing experiences but I also enjoyed the free/down time. Very relaxing. I loved being able to come back to my own room for a siesta so that I could enjoy the long summer Italian evenings. Along with a refreshing Aperol Spritz/prosecco or a wine or two!!! And as for Gillian - a fabulous host. Fun,caring, kind, patient and now a new friend.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the Italian Tour and has a fantastic time. As a first time Solo Traveller, I enjoyed the smaller group of people and the interesting and fun activities organised - as I had been to Italy on 2 previous occasions, I had already been to the main tourist attractions but did enjoy them again as there was 10 and 40 years between seeing some of the again. I did enjoy the Vespa rise through Tuscany - heaps of fun, the Truffle Hunt and Lunch, Orvieto, Siena, San Gimignano and Burano.
Amelia
Italy was wonderful, the people in the group were lovely, and we saw a lot within the 2 weeks we were there.
