Leave the city behind and travel approximately four hours to the coast, where one of the world’s great natural wonders awaits. From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was one of Southeast Asia’s most important international trading ports — a crossroads for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab merchants. Visit a local tailor and have something made to measure. Explore the markets. Hire a bicycle and cycle through the rice paddies to the nearby beach. Find a rooftop bar and do absolutely nothing. However you spend it, Hoi An will not disappoint.

A complete change of pace — and one of the tour’s most rewarding days. The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam, often called the country’s rice bowl, producing three harvests per year across its vast, fertile floodplains.
Board a river boat at Cai Be Floating Market and cruise the endless waterways of the delta, visiting a Bonsai Garden, a traditional handicraft village where bricks and pottery are still made by hand, and stopping to discover how candy and puffed rice are produced the old-fashioned way. Lunch at a local riverside restaurant, then return through the delta to Ho Chi Minh City for a final group dinner celebrating the Vietnam leg of your adventure.

DAY 14 – Wednesday 28th April 2027 SIEM REAP — TONLE SAP LAKE & KOMPONG PHLUK STILTED VILLAGE (B/D)
Drive to the edge of the vast Tonle Sap Lake — Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake — and board a boat for a cruise to Kompong Phluk, one of the most remarkable communities in all of Cambodia. This isolated Khmer village of around 3,000 people is built entirely on wooden stilts rising six to eight metres above the water. Your boat winds through a beautiful flooded mangrove forest as you keep watch for birds and the cheeky crab-eating macaques that live in the canopy above.

Weather
The North of Vietnam is generally cooler than other South East Asian regions in the same longitude. It experiences two main distinct seasons. In winter months, the weather gets colder and colder from November to March and considerably warmer in April (a leap into summer). This is also time to observe much cloud and frequent drizzle. In the summer (from May to October), the whole region is quite hot. The Central Vietnam with two sub-regions, coastal lowlands and central highlands, can be seen as an in-between climatic area of the North and the South. The coastal strip is usually dry and hotter than the rest in the summer, as the Truong Son Mountains do not allow it to enjoy most rainfall of south-western monsoon (from April to October). Unprotected coasts in their turn, however, make it wet and colder than the rest in winter-monsoon season (from November to March). Also, storms and typhoons strike this area more frequently than the northern coasts in summer months (from July to November). The South of Vietnam, merely 8 degrees north of the Equator, is typical of humid tropical climate which is excellent for growing rice. The region’s temperatures experience little variations in a year (around 27-32°C/80-90°F). There are two main seasons: the rainy and the dry. During the rainy/monsoon season (from May to November), downpours are expected to happen nearly every afternoon, resulting in occasional street flooding in and around Saigon. In the dry season, it is hot from late February to April then slightly cooler when first downpours come. Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) enjoys rather equitable tropical climate with high humidity all year round. December to March is said to be the most pleasant time to hit this region’s center.
Money
Vietnam’s currency is dong issued by State Bank of Vietnam. Abbreviated form: “VND” before the amount or “d” after the amount. Small denominations include VND 200; 500; 1000; 2000; 5000 in both coin and paper notes though coin is more popular. Bigger denominations include VND 10,000; 20,000; 50,000; 100,000; 200,000; 500,000 in both polymer and normal paper notes. Generally, all major currencies can be converted into dong without any hassle but American dollar is normally much more preferred. It is wise to cash your traveler cheques into US dollar in Vietcombank or other major local banks before jumping into anywhere. You may be charged 0.5 to 2% commission for this, still much lower than in black market. Also, it is important to make sure that any note you take do not have any tear or look too worn, as it is possible to pass them to no one again. It is strongly recommended that you do not equip yourself with lots of cash, neither dollar nor dong. In Vietnam now, it is much easier for you to access your money almost everywhere and any time in Hanoi, Saigon or other major cities through an extensive ATM network. It is, therefore, important to check whether your credit card company has any ATM access in Vietnam in advance.
Electricity
In Vietnam the standard voltage is 220 V. The standard frequency is 50 Hz. The power sockets that are used are of type A (Japan) / C (Europe) and G (UK)

DAY 2 – Friday 16th April 2027 HANOI — HO CHI MINH MAUSOLEUM, CYCLO RIDE & STREET FOOD TOUR (B/L/D)
A full and fascinating day exploring the many layers of Hanoi’s extraordinary history and culture. Begin with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum — the resting place of the man who led Vietnam’s campaign for independence from French colonial rule. Nearby, discover the charming legend of the One Pillar Pagoda, built by an emperor over a lotus pond to honour the goddess of mercy.
Continue to the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long — the political heart of the region for over a millennium, where archaeological excavation is still actively underway — and the magnificent Temple of Literature, an 11th-century complex built in homage to Confucius and Vietnam’s first university. After lunch, visit Quan Thanh Temple and the scenic shores of West Lake.

DAY 3 – Saturday 17th April 2027 HANOI TO HALONG BAY — UNESCO OVERNIGHT CRUISE (B/L/D)
Leave the city behind and travel approximately four hours to the coast, where one of the world’s great natural wonders awaits. Halong Bay — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — is a seascape of breathtaking beauty: nearly 2,000 dramatic limestone karsts rising from jade-green waters, draped in forest and mist.
Board the Bai Tho, a beautifully restored traditional wooden junk boat chartered exclusively by Two’s a Crowd, and set sail over lunch. Cruise past the Ba Hang fishing village, through clusters of extraordinary karst islands, and into the magnificent Surprise Cave — one of the most spectacular grottos in all of Halong Bay.

Wake up to the extraordinary stillness of Halong Bay at dawn — one of the most peaceful mornings you’ll ever experience. Begin with Tai Chi on the sundeck as the mist lifts from the karsts, then enjoy breakfast on board.

From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was one of Southeast Asia’s most important international trading ports — a crossroads for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab merchants. Today, remarkably, many of those same buildings remain virtually unchanged. Walking through the Ancient Quarter genuinely feels like stepping back in time.

Visit a local tailor and have something made to measure. Explore the markets. Hire a bicycle and cycle through the rice paddies to the nearby beach. Find a rooftop bar and do absolutely nothing. However you spend it, Hoi An will not disappoint.

A complete change of pace — and one of the tour’s most rewarding days. The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam, often called the country’s rice bowl, producing three harvests per year across its vast, fertile floodplains.
Board a river boat at Cai Be Floating Market and cruise the endless waterways of the delta, visiting a Bonsai Garden, a traditional handicraft village where bricks and pottery are still made by hand, and stopping to discover how candy and puffed rice are produced the old-fashioned way. Lunch at a local riverside restaurant, then return through the delta to Ho Chi Minh City for a final group dinner celebrating the Vietnam leg of your adventure.

The day many travellers consider the most extraordinary of their lives. Begin at the South Gate of Angkor Thom, flanked by the famous rows of gods and demons. DAY 14 – Wednesday 28th April 2027 SIEM REAP — TONLE SAP LAKE & KOMPONG PHLUK STILTED VILLAGE (B/D)
Drive to the edge of the vast Tonle Sap Lake — Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake — and board a boat for a cruise to Kompong Phluk, one of the most remarkable communities in all of Cambodia. This isolated Khmer village of around 3,000 people is built entirely on wooden stilts rising six to eight metres above the water. Your boat winds through a beautiful flooded mangrove forest as you keep watch for birds and the cheeky crab-eating macaques that live in the canopy above.

Weather
The North of Vietnam is generally cooler than other South East Asian regions in the same longitude. It experiences two main distinct seasons. In winter months, the weather gets colder and colder from November to March and considerably warmer in April (a leap into summer). This is also time to observe much cloud and frequent drizzle. In the summer (from May to October), the whole region is quite hot. The Central Vietnam with two sub-regions, coastal lowlands and central highlands, can be seen as an in-between climatic area of the North and the South. The coastal strip is usually dry and hotter than the rest in the summer, as the Truong Son Mountains do not allow it to enjoy most rainfall of south-western monsoon (from April to October). Unprotected coasts in their turn, however, make it wet and colder than the rest in winter-monsoon season (from November to March). Also, storms and typhoons strike this area more frequently than the northern coasts in summer months (from July to November). The South of Vietnam, merely 8 degrees north of the Equator, is typical of humid tropical climate which is excellent for growing rice. The region’s temperatures experience little variations in a year (around 27-32°C/80-90°F). There are two main seasons: the rainy and the dry. During the rainy/monsoon season (from May to November), downpours are expected to happen nearly every afternoon, resulting in occasional street flooding in and around Saigon. In the dry season, it is hot from late February to April then slightly cooler when first downpours come. Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) enjoys rather equitable tropical climate with high humidity all year round. December to March is said to be the most pleasant time to hit this region’s center.
Money
Vietnam’s currency is dong issued by State Bank of Vietnam. Abbreviated form: “VND” before the amount or “d” after the amount. Small denominations include VND 200; 500; 1000; 2000; 5000 in both coin and paper notes though coin is more popular. Bigger denominations include VND 10,000; 20,000; 50,000; 100,000; 200,000; 500,000 in both polymer and normal paper notes. Generally, all major currencies can be converted into dong without any hassle but American dollar is normally much more preferred. It is wise to cash your traveler cheques into US dollar in Vietcombank or other major local banks before jumping into anywhere. You may be charged 0.5 to 2% commission for this, still much lower than in black market. Also, it is important to make sure that any note you take do not have any tear or look too worn, as it is possible to pass them to no one again. It is strongly recommended that you do not equip yourself with lots of cash, neither dollar nor dong. In Vietnam now, it is much easier for you to access your money almost everywhere and any time in Hanoi, Saigon or other major cities through an extensive ATM network. It is, therefore, important to check whether your credit card company has any ATM access in Vietnam in advance.
Electricity
In Vietnam the standard voltage is 220 V. The standard frequency is 50 Hz. The power sockets that are used are of type A (Japan) / C (Europe) and G (UK)
