Vietnam is a country of outstanding natural beauty, wonderful food and welcoming and warm people.

The larger towns and cities retain much of their colonial charm and beauty in the architecture, parks and boulevards left as a cultural legacy by the French.

We start our adventure in Hanoi, right in the heart of the Old Quarter. Enjoy a full day city tour followed by a Street Eats Tour where we can taste from the myriad of sizzling woks and bubbling pots.

From Hanoi we head to iconic Halong Bay where we cruise the jade waters and spend a night on-board our private junk boat. Next, in Hoi An we’ve included a half day walking city tour along with a cooking class. We’ve built in plenty of free time in Hoi An to soak up the atmosphere at local cafés, explore the markets, sample some street food, or simply relax by the pool at your hotel.

Then it’s off to Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City as it’s officially known. Saigon is a fast-paced modern city although, it still boasts many historic sites and is our base from which to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong Delta. Next we fly to Siem Reap to begin our Cambodian adventure. At our doorstep we’ll have the local markets, cafés, restaurants, day spas, tailors, and so much more.

All up, we have a fabulous 15 days of amazing sights, delicious food, and wonderful new experiences to explore.

Weather

The North of Vietnam is generally cooler than other South East Asian regions in the same longitude. It experiences two main distinct seasons. In winter months, the weather gets colder and colder from November to March and considerably warmer in April (a leap into summer).  This is also time to observe much cloud and frequent drizzle. In the summer (from May to October), the whole region is quite hot. The Central Vietnam with two sub-regions, coastal lowlands and central highlands, can be seen as an in-between climatic area of the North and the South. The coastal strip is usually dry and hotter than the rest in the summer, as the Truong Son Mountains do not allow it to enjoy most rainfall of south-western monsoon (from April to October). Unprotected coasts in their turn, however, make it wet and colder than the rest in winter-monsoon season (from November to March). Also, storms and typhoons strike this area more frequently than the northern coasts in summer months (from July to November). The South of Vietnam, merely 8 degrees north of the Equator, is typical of humid tropical climate which is excellent for growing rice. The region’s temperatures experience little variations in a year (around 27-32°C/80-90°F). There are two main seasons: the rainy and the dry. During the rainy/monsoon season (from May to November), downpours are expected to happen nearly every afternoon, resulting in occasional street flooding in and around Saigon. In the dry season, it is hot from late February to April then slightly cooler when first downpours come. Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) enjoys rather equitable tropical climate with high humidity all year round. December to March is said to be the most pleasant time to hit this region’s center.

Money

Vietnam’s currency is dong issued by State Bank of Vietnam. Abbreviated form: “VND” before the amount or “d” after the amount. Small denominations include VND 200; 500; 1000; 2000; 5000 in both coin and paper notes though coin is more popular. Bigger denominations include VND 10,000; 20,000; 50,000; 100,000; 200,000; 500,000 in both polymer and normal paper notes. Generally, all major currencies can be converted into dong without any hassle but American dollar is normally much more preferred. It is wise to cash your traveler cheques into US dollar in Vietcombank or other major local banks before jumping into anywhere. You may be charged 0.5 to 2% commission for this, still much lower than in black market. Also, it is important to make sure that any note you take do not have any tear or look too worn, as it is possible to pass them to no one again. It is strongly recommended that you do not equip yourself with lots of cash, neither dollar nor dong. In Vietnam now, it is much easier for you to access your money almost everywhere and any time in Hanoi, Saigon or other major cities through an extensive ATM network. It is, therefore, important to check whether your credit card company has any ATM access in Vietnam in advance.

Electricity

In Vietnam the standard voltage is 220 V. The standard frequency is 50 Hz. The power sockets that are used are of type A (Japan) / C (Europe)  and  G (UK)

Visas

Visas on arrival are available at both Vietnam and Cambodia international airports. Two’s a Crowd can provide more information on the process and required documentation and costs.

Great experience. Amazing local guide. Overall I highly recommend this tour. Adrian also always very helpful and willing to help if any problems.
Greg
Very happy with the way the tour went: Tour guides were extremely knowlegble, nothing was too much trouble. Even down to rescuing luggage that had been left behind. Laki was a standout with his wit & humour & his special insight into the Buddhist religion. Nut for his work & support at the village school. Accommodation met expectations, exceeded at Hoi An. All really well located & operation by friendly & efficient staff Trip ran seamlessly, every thing was on time Meals provided for the group all at good quality restaurants. All special day tours exceeded expectations. These can sometimes be cheesy, cheap & touristy but not these. Gave us an addition insight into the country & the people. Adrian was always there looking out for us. His photography skills & passion will give us something unique to this this tour
Jennie
Very well organised, two great guides, specially Laki who had everything under control at all times. His local knowledge was invaluable.
Gillian

Shirley
Well organised, very professional with the personal touch. Small group size was perfect. I was extremely impressed with every aspect. Laki was entertaining, knowledgable and efficient… Adrian was also professional and great fun too.
Sandra
We had a wonderful tour guide. Above and beyond. Laki was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Nuk was excellent.
Susheel
I really enjoyed it. Activities were well thought out and relevant. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. My vegetarian diet was very well catered for, especially in Vietnam; many thanks for that. Most of all I felt safe and looked after.
Wendy
It's one of the best trips I have ever done. It took me out of my comfort zone by travelling 'solo' but the whole time I had the reassurance and guidance (without being 'in your face') of the fabulous host Di and Laki our guide. I'm thinking of booking my next solo trip with Two's A Crowd.
Peter
I relished each and every one of the 17 days overseas. Days were well planned and executed with a minimum of fuss and supervisory staff were well versed in their responsibilities. Moreover, my travelling companions made every effort to make me feel an integral component of the group. The guide provided for us in Cambodia was, in my opinion, was a fountain of knowledge with an excellent grasp of the English language. Would I travel again with Twos a Crowd and would I recommend the organisation to others - the answer is a resounding yes.
Sophie
Amazing!!!!
Helen
Well planned and executed. Great support from local guides and Dianne. Gave an excellent overview and first visit to the area.
Robyne
“Well organised tour of Vietnam. Our hostess Diane was always available and ready to assist with any needs. Laki our Guide went out of his way to show us his beautiful country. It was a pleasure to be part of the tour.
Colin
I was most impressed with the tour overall. Great host and guide. The group melded in well.
Anonymous
Very enjoyable and a very good crowd. Loved the history of the place…
Julie
Well planned from beginning to end. Despite my apprehension: meeting new people, travelling on my own and with a travel company I had not previously used, I had a wonderful time. I found at the meet and greet that we were all 'newbies' and felt the same as me. That was reassuring! Diane and Laki more than contributed to the enjoyable experience.
Julie
Had a fantastic time, made some new friendships, had a load of fun, got to see places I haven't before have already, highly recommended the trip and services of Two's a crowd to friends. Laki and Di are exceptional, always willing to assist and follow through with all queries. Great job by both!!!
John
Enlightening, educational and good fun. Laki, the local guide was particularly good at introducing us to the lifestyles and history of Vietnam and together with Diane made a well-organized team that looked after us and made sure we had a good time.
Gloria
Glad I went and really liked Hoi and Danang and Hanoi. Cambodia was really great the people were really friendly.
Nikki
Cambodia was the cherry on the cake. Everything was excellent. Ty (tour guide) was professional, knowledgeable and displayed care and concern for us. His ability to adjust and handle unexpected situations was beyond excellent.
Jill
We all agreed that it was a wonderful trip. Diane and Loc made it all happen for us! They were so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly making us all feel at home and comfortable in their company. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I was extremely nervous about taking the trip being the first since my husband passed away but I really enjoyed it.
Sandra
Di was awesome as was Loc but Loc was funny and knowledgeable...he’s a keeper. Junk Boat... fanstatic.... had an awesome time, beautiful place had a great time, loved it.
Regina
Fabulous tour guide - Loc was informative and engaging. Fabulous Tour host - Di ensured everyone was looked after individually and as a group. She went the extra mile to help where help was needed.
Brian
As a single traveller it was what I hope for in respect to organisation and company.
Tracey
The Australian host Diane was lovely and very helpful. She did a great job managing the group. I thought it was well organised with a great itinerary. It had a good mix of people. The transport via coach was good and I appreciated not being squashed in a car etc. I would definitely do another trip. I was initially very anxious about travelling by myself but I felt totally comfortable on this trip.
Margaret
Very enjoyable and informative - I loved the country & people. A thoughtful & well planned itinerary, multiple night stops allowed me to get greater insight & understanding of the Vietnamese, their history & culture. Lok - a passionate, knowable & proud local guide who was also a very caring guide - a lot of fun was had by all! I enjoyed the small group experience (a first for me) - our group was friendly & seemed to get along well - was personally great to share experiences, meals etc
Sharyn
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip. There was good balance in the itinerary in both places. Di and Loc were excellent mother and father hens and looked after us well.
Great time together

I found the trip interesting and eye opening with a great overview of both Vietnam and Cambodia. The other travellers on the trip were fabulous and we had a great time together. - Anonymous on Vietnam/Cambodia
