Explore the best of France with a solo’s tour starting in one of the most stunning cities of the world — Paris! Then enjoy a scenic cruise through the stunning Champagne region in a quaint French barge boat.

You will discover incredible architecture and historical monuments, relish in the French cuisine and be immersed in the wonderful atmosphere that makes France such a popular destination. You will start your adventure in Paris, staying in the lively Latin Quarter. No trip to Paris is complete without a Seine river cruise where you will soak up 2,000 years of Parisian history. You’ll wander around the main boulevards, see the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur and the Arc de Triomphe. You’ll discover some of Paris’ most loved architecture and hidden delights as well as walk along the prettiest covered walkways in the city.

Our second part of the tour will see us leave land to climb aboard our barge to take to the French canals for seven days of adventure. The ship offers all the creature comforts of a hotel including your own private cabin with ensuite and a friendly crew to accommodate all your needs. The scenery will be awe-inspiring as we sail some of France’s most prestigious waterways. You will have the opportunity to explore the charming towns steeped in history, as well as many opportunities to taste the local cheeses, pastries, desserts and other mouth-watering produce.

What is a trip to France without experiencing one of the country’s most famous exports, champagne? We will cruise the waterways and take in the views of the region’s vines. We will disembark daily to have the opportunity to wander the historic towns and enjoy cultural visits, enjoy many champagne tastings and winery tours.

Every good tour has to come to an end and ours does with an intimate Gala evening aboard the cruise vessel, before returning back to Paris. Day 1 – Wednesday 29th July 2020 PARIS (D)

Today you will arrive in to the fabulous French capital- Paris!

Check in to the hotel and then enjoy your day at leisure, before meeting up with your fellow canal boat passengers and Two’s a Crowd Host. Tonight you will all enjoy an authentic French dinner together, as well as a tour briefing.

Accommodation: Your own standard room with ensuite at ‘Hotel St Pierre’, Latin Quarter (3 star)


Day 2 – Thursday 30th July 2020 PARIS – EPERNAY (B,D)

After breakfast the morning is yours to explore Paris. After lunch we will transfer from Paris by coach (approx 2 hours) to join our ship in Epernay. Passengers are welcome to board the ship at 6:00 p.m. After comfortably settling into our cabins, we will be introduced to the crew at a welcome cocktail reception before dinner.

Day 3 – Friday 31st July 2020

EPERNAY – DORMANS (B,L,D)

We’ll set off by coach for our excursion to Reims. We’ll have a guided tour of the historic center and its cathedral. We’ll return on board. The afternoon will be spent sailing to Dormans, reaching it in the evening.

Day 4 – Saturday 1st August 2020

DORMANS – CHÂTEAU THIERRY (B,L,D)

Join us for an excursion along the famous Champagne route. We’ll set out on a discovery tour of the village of Hautvilliers, birthplace of Champagne. We’ll visit a major Champagne house followed by a tasting of champagne. We’ll return on board and cruise to Château Thierry, through the beautiful Marne canal landscapes. We’ll reach our destination in the late afternoon.

Day 5 – Sunday 2nd August 2020

CHÂTEAU THIERRY – SAINT-JEAN-LES-DEUX-JUMEAUX (B,L,D)

We’ll discover the town of Château Thierry and participate in a falconry show with live demonstrations. Afterwards, we’ll return on board and cruise to Saint-Jean-Les-Deux-Jumeaux, reaching it during the evening.

Day 6 – Monday 3rd August 2020 SAINT-JEAN-LES-DEUX-JUMEAUX – MEAUX – LAGNY-SUR-MARNE (B,L,D)

We’ll cruise to Meaux. This afternoon, we’ll set out on a guided tour of this charming town, followed by a tasting of the famous Brie de Meaux cheese. We’ll return on board in Lagny-sur-Marne.

Day 7 – Tuesday 4th August 2020

LAGNY-SUR-MARNE – PARIS (B,L,D)

Early this morning, we’ll start cruising towards Paris. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Paris and set out for an excursion through the major sites of the capital. Join us on an original walk along the prettiest covered walkways in Paris, allowing you to travel back through time and history around the Palais Royal. Tonight is our gala dinner and final evening on board the MS Raymonde barge boat.

Lounge: The lounge is tastefully decorated, it’s a quiet place where you can spend time with your new friends. Equipped with sofa and a bar you can relax before and after dinner.

Terrace and Jacuzzi: Located at the front of the barge and equipped with tables and parasols, you can easily share a moment with new friends, or unwind while enjoying the view. Rest and relax in the Jacuzzi while enjoying the beautiful landscapes.

Sun Deck: Do not miss it to unwind ! It is equipped with recliners so that you can enjoy the best views of your cruise.

Restaurant: Located on the upper deck, the restaurant is where all meals are served during your cruise. It seats all guests at tables which vary in size with a panoramic view. The atmosphere is casual but elegant.

France generally enjoys cool winters and mild summers except along the Mediterranean where mild winters and hot summers are the norm.

Average winter temperatures range from 32° F to 46° F and average summer temperatures from 61° F to 75° F. For the most warmth and sunshine go to the south of the country.

Currency

The unit of currency in France is the euro, as in most other countries of the European Union.

Use your home bank ATM/cash card to withdraw euros from French distributeurs des billets (ATMs/cashpoints) or Retrait (cash witdrawal). Check with your bank to see if this will work without problems. You may also want to check the exchange rate, charges andfees imposed by your bank on foreign currency withdrawals, which may amount to 3% to 6% of your money.

Electricity

For France there are two associated plug types, types C and E. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and plug type E is the plug which has two round pins and a hole for the socket’s male earthing pin. France operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

France is part of the Schengen area. This allows you to enter France without a visa in some circumstances.
